Rebecca Davis Markham

Mrs. Rebecca Ann Davis Markham, age 69, of Hwy. 109, Denton died Monday evening, February 23 at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday, February 26 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roger Riffe and Rev. George Shephard officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Markham was born April 2, 1939 in Guilford County to Jacob and Grace Gallimore Davis. She was a member of Hoovers Grove Wesleyan Church and had worked for Thornton Hosiery Mill and Councill Craftsman. She is survived by her husband Earl Lawrence Markham of the home, two sons, Allen Markham and wife Melissa of Denton and Randall Markham and wife Allison of Lexington, three daughters, Darlene Varner and husband Greg of Denton, Judy Cagle and husband Joe of the New Hope Community and Leslie Ridge and husband Daniel of Denton, her mother, Grace Gallimore Davis of Denton, one brother, Terry Davis and wife Freda of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Megan Snider and husband Fred, Ashley Markham, Avery Markham, Eli Varner, Tabitha Ligon and husband Brad, Brandon Markham and Jacob Markham. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Hwy. 109.
