Ray Covington

Mr. Ray Covington age 91, formerly of Eastside Dr., Denton died Wednesday, October 07, 2015 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Charles Tanner. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Eastside Dr. Mr. Covington was born February 26, 1924 in Stanly County to Luther Clayton Covington and Eunice Haire Covingotn. He was a US Army veteran having served in WWII and was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Gerlene “Geri” Covington; sister, Margaret Lanning; and brothers, Lenn, Harold, and Clegg Covington. Mr. Covington is survived by a son, Barry Covington of Kannapolis. In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made to the Davidson County Rescue Squad.
