Ray Buie

Mr. Ray Buie, 90, of Denton Rd., Denton passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Flynn Richardson and Dr. Clint Scott presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Buie was born April 13, 1927 in Davidson County to Samuel J. Buie and Pearlie Hill Buie. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, but the job he loved most was being the church janitor. He retired from Burlington Industries after 30 years and then went to work at Mountain Vista Health Park for 17 years.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Velez Bryant Buie on May 5, 2017, by brothers, Luther, Jake, Leo, Ralph and Zeb Buie; by sisters, Sallie Scarlett, Marie Loftin, and Elsie Tysinger; by son-in-law, Jim McDonald.

Surviving is, son, Alan Buie of Denton; daughter, Kathy McDonald of Denton; 2 grandsons, Adam Buie and Alex Buie both of Denton; sister, Rebecca Staley of Denton

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kathy McDonald.

The family would like to extend “a special thank you” to Hospice of Davidson County for their support and care.
