Ralph Edward Beane

Ralph Edward Beane, 70, of Blackankle Rd., Star, went peacefully to be with his Lord and loving wife of 50 years, Wilma, on January 30, 2012 at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2012 at Big Oak Church of God, with Revs. Tim Beck and Billy Chriscoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with military rites. Mr. Beane was born June 13, 1942 in Blackankle at home, to Tom and Pearl Beane. He proudly honored our great country by serving in the Air Force with most of his time in Aviano, Italy. He was a member of many county boards, including Chairman of the Montgomery County Planning Board for the Aging and Crime Stoppers. He was Chairman of the Little River Democratic Party, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Beane won numerous awards in the Senior Olympic Games, including the North Carolina Gold for Bocce. He was the Commander for Post 443 of the Montgomery County Veterans Incorporated for 2 years. He fought a brave and successful fight with cancer, but it was his heart that led him to heaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Beane, brothers Pete and Mitchell Beane, and parents, Tom and Pearl Beane. He is survived by his daughters, Candace Beane of Blackankle and Hilda Williams of York, SC; 2 sisters, Francess Dunn of Star and Hazel Saunders of Asheboro; 2 brothers, Hobert and Gurney Beane of Star; 3 grandchildren, Lillian and Adam Whitesell and Emma Williams. Mitch Beane and Joann Buchanan with children Sidney and Carol honored him as caregivers until his passing and also by the angel at the back door who kept his spirits high every day, Larry Dunn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy and other times at the residence on Blackankle Rd.
