Rachel Loflin Garbee, 91, formerly of Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Hermitage Assisted Living Facility in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born in Randolph County, NC to Coy E. Loflin and Elgie Hopkins Loflin.
Mrs. Garbee graduated from Farmer High School, High Point College in High Point, NC with a Bachelor of Arts degree and completed her graduate studies at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
Mrs. Garbee taught school in both North Carolina and Virginia; retiring from Edwin W. Chittum Elementry School in Chesapeake, VA.
She was a member of Siloam Church, Denton, NC; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (a professional society for educators); a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years as well as a volunteer to others when needed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Tyler Garbee, Sr.
She is survived by son, William T. Garbee, Jr. of Arlington, VA; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Louella Caison of Denton.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Denton, NC.
