Ellerbe, NC Mr. Perry Pratt Gallimore, age 75 of Derby Road, Ellerbe died Thursday, April 22 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24 at Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Suzanne Simpson and Pastor Douglas Payne. Burial will follow at Candor Town Cemetery. Mr. Gallimore was born at home in Richmond County March 7, 1935 to David Perry Gallimore and Lillian Blake Gallimore. Along with his father and brother Carl Gallimore, he was an active part of the family business, D P. Gallimore and Sons, Inc. trucking company. They also had a large farm operation, where they grew peaches, tobacco, soybeans and raised cattle. He was also co-owner/operator of Gallimore Tobacco Warehouse. Most recently, he was the owner/operator of Pratt Gallimore Trucking from which he retired in 2006. Mr. Gallimore was a lifetime member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and elder. He was also a past president of the N C Peach Growers Society and voted outstanding young farmer of the year. After his retirement, he enjoyed supporting the Richmond Raiders Boosters Club and entering and winning awards in late model car shows. He is survived by his wife of almost forty nine years, Pearl McFarland Gallimore, daughters Cathy Gallimore Hight and husband Lee of Henderson and Carla Gallimore Mumford and husband Mike of Lucama, grandsons, Wesley Lee Hight, Jr and Branson Perry Hight both of Henderson; a sister Carol Gallimore Masten and husband Sam of Ellerbe; a sister-in-law Gail Gallimore of Ellerbe and several nieces and nephews. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the residence on Derby Road.
