Phyllis "Kay" Egger

Phyllis "Kay" Egger born July 7, 1956 age 68 passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 3, 2024.

She is leaving behind a legacy of joy, warmth, boundless energy and her buckeye recipe. Kay's vibrant personality touched everyone she met, from the students and parents she cherished during her 25 years as a school employee, to family and friends who felt her love and enthusiasm for life. Kay's spirit was as lively as the tunes she loved including "Spirit in the sky" "Take it easy" "Hotel California" Fat bottom girls" and "Walk this way" Kay loved with her whole heart, danced with her whole body, and baked with her whole soul. Her infectious smile could brighten even the most challenging days.

Kay is preceded in death by her father Phillip Moreland, her stepfather Clarence Thompson, and grandmother Grace Brown.

Kay is survived by her devoted husband James Egger, her daughters Cami (Shawn) Schertzer, Mindy (Wally) Ooten, Julie (Steve) Clement and her stepson Jeff (Christina) Egger. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Courtney, Paige, Dylan, Meaghan, Gracie, Drew, Trent, her great grandchildren Jaxon, Jace, Maddox, Andy, Nora, and Baylee who are all cherished deeply. Kay will be remembered fondly by her mother Bonnie Thompson, as well as her siblings Sue, Mike, Timmy, Tommy, Tammy, and Dawn. Kay will also be missed by cousin Debbie Castell. She had many extended family, several friends,  and was loved by all.

Kay's legacy will live on in the hearts of all that knew her. Her passing leaves a huge void in our lives that will be deeply felt, but her memory will continue to dance, cook, and laugh in the hearts of those she touched as we all find comfort in knowing she's gone to rest in the spirit in the sky.

A visitation with the family will be held at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton, North Carolina on Saturday August 10th from 2-3:30 with a small service following.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of the happiness and love she brought into the world.
