Phillip Parsons, 89, of Candor, died Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Macedonia Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. Matthew Baker officiating. Born April 24, 1934 in Montgomery County, the son of Harrison and Bessie Lee Long Parsons. Phillip was retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church, a member of the Biscoe Masonic Lodge #437, a member of the American Legion Post in Troy, and a member of the Good ol Boys in Biscoe. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley McWilliams Parsons in 2017, and 5 brothers, Kermit, Hub, Oz, D.H. and Karol Parsons. He is survived by 2 sons, Greg Parsons (Dondra) of Candor and Steve Parsons (Julie) of Clarksville TN; daughter, Mary Lamonds (Rodger) of Candor; brother, Billy Wayne Parsons (Diane) of Candor; 7 Grandchildren, Charles Parsons, Janna Parsons, Christina Parsons Cosby, Adam Parsons, Alan Parsons, Austin Lamonds, and Katlyn Sellers; 9 Great-grandchildren, Charles, Jr., Hunter, Mason, Blake, Emma, Matthew, Cheyenne, Mark, and William, and a number of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. The family will receive friends at Phillips home and following the graveside service in the fellowship hall at Macedonia Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Presbyterian Church, PO Box 340, Candor NC 27229 or to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 251 Campground Rd., West End NC 27376. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
