Philip Parnell

January 21, 1932 — September 12, 2019

Mr. R. Philip Parnell, age 87 of NC Highway # 49 died Thursday, September 12 at Hinkle Hospice House.   A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 15 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Richard Gould and Rev. Tony Parsons. Burial will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery.   The family will see friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.   Mr. Parnell was born January 21, 1932 in Montgomery County to Adam Parnell and Kate Blue Parnell. He was a member of Alleghany United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U S Army. He was automobile mechanic and used car dealer and had worked as the service manager at Yadkin Valley Chevrolet in Denton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by brothers, A.L. Parnell, J. T. Parnell and LeRoy Parnell and by sisters Helen Hutchinson and Ann Elkins   He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Glover Parnell of the home; a son Edward Parnell and wife Shryl of Denton; a daughter Donna Hedrick and husband Scott of Lexington; grandchildren Victoria Fleming and husband Jake, Bradley Hedrick and wife Konstance and Jessica Hedrick; great grandchild, Gracie Fleming; brothers Bobby Parnell and wife Judy of Albemarle and Joe Parnell and wife Helen of Trinity; sister Phylis Parnell of Mt Gilead.   Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the Donor’s Choice.
