Pearl Thompson

Mrs. Pearl Harris Thompson, age 97 of Sexton Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, April 3 at Stanly Regional medical Center in Albemarle. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 6 at Denton Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Charlie Collins and Rev. Charles Moses. Burial will follow in Denton Town Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born August 22, 1912 in Davidson County to George T. Harris and Sarah Loflin Harris. She was a charter member of Denton Wesleyan Church where she had served as Secretary/Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and a Church Board member. She was a retired employee of M. A. Pickett Department Store where she worked as a sales person for 38 years. She was married to James A. Thompson who died March 9, 1984. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Darlyne Thompson. She is survived by her son, Rev. James Ronald Thompson of Denton, a grand-daughter, Rhonda Borgman and husband John of Denton; and a sister Essie Newsom of Star; The family will see friends from 6:00 TO 8:00 PM Monday at Briggs Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of the son on Sexton Road.
