Paul Edward Yates

Mr. Paul Edward Yates, 80, of Canaan Church Rd., Denton passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Thomasville Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, Sept. 7 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence of Michael Yates on Canaan Ch. Rd.

Mr. Yates was born October 29, 1937 in Randolph County to Robert Glenn Yates and Ruth Trotter Yates. He was a graduate of Farmer High School and attended Siloam United Methodist Church. He retired as a fixer from Bisher Hosiery Mill after 35 years. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Betty Yates.

He is survived by wife, Betty Jo Lanier Yates of the home; son, Paul Michael Yates and wife Joan of Denton; brothers, Clyde Yates of Trinity, Allen Yates and wife Mattie of Lexington, and Houston Yates and wife Janice of Denton; sister, Hazel Staley and husband Burnice of Asheboro; special niece, Cindy Staley and other numerous nieces and nephews; 3 grandchildren, Curtis Yates, Laura Yates, and Stephanie Phee; 2 great-grandchildren, Tèa and Chayton Yates
