Paul Gallimore, Sr.

Mr. Paul James Gallimore Sr., age 92 of Crousetown Rd., Lexington, NC went peacefully to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 7 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Chris Smith. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Gallimore was born February 13, 1923 in Davidson County to James “Jim” Gallimore and Hattie Myers Gallimore. He was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church and presently attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Gallimore was a dairy farmer for years and later drove a milk tanker. He was most recently employed as a delivery driver with Chair City Supply of Thomasville for 35 years until retirement in spring 2014. Mr. Gallimore was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and “Papaw”. He enjoyed riding his lawn mower and sharing a meal and cup of coffee with friends and family at his favorite restaurants. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, and wife of 69 years, Marjorie Crouse Gallimorre. Mr. Gallimore is survived by sister Mamie Shuler; sons, Paul Gallimore Jr. and wife Lou of Salisbury, and Ken Gallimore and wife Shelbie of Lexington; a daughter, Janet Slack and husband John of Denton; 7 grandchildren: Chris Gallimore, Lisa Ingram, James Harkey, Jill Foster, Wendy Park, Leigh Chase, and Julie Slack; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and special friend Reva Tucker. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
