Scott Cook

Norman Scott Cook, lovingly known as "Cookie", passed away on January 30, 2026. He was 57 years old.

Scott is survived by his parents, Doug and Lynn Cook; his siblings, Brandon Cook, Christi Burch Hunt, Cole Cook (Misti), and Carmen Cook Miller (Luke); his beloved nieces and nephews and his Aunt, Viki Burch.

He is also survived by his Uncle, Lee Burch and Aunt, Marsha Burch, who were instrumental in his care and wellbeing and held a very special place in his life and his heart.

Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Burch Cook and his Uncle Rodney Burch.

Scott proudly served with the North Carolina Forest Service as a firefighter and heavy equipment operator and was a well skilled metal fabricator. His work took him across North Carolina and into other states, where he was deployed to help fight wildfires. This was work he took seriously and performed with dedication, grit, and quiet pride.

An outdoorsman at heart, Scott loved hunting and fishing and felt most at home in the wild. He spent many cherished seasons elk hunting at the family's home in Colorado. Known for his piercing blue eyes and quick wit, Scott was a natural jokester and always ready for the next adventure. Whether it meant trapping muskrats, coming face to face with a bobcat, or loading up his favorite companions, Bubba and Jake, for a spontaneous coon hunt.

Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His stories, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the memories of his family and friends. The family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, resting in the presence of Jesus.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chaplin Chris Ehrlich. The family will greet friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
