Nina "Dean" Yates of Denton, NC went to be with Jesus peacefully on September 29, 2023 at her home on her 91st birthday. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Summerville Baptist Church. A Graveside Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Thomas Frizzell and Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating.
She was born in Denton, and lived in Savannah for over 30 years and retired in her childhood home in Denton. She was preceded in death by her parents Nina Snider Daniel and William Clayton Daniel on September 29, 1932. She was a member of Summerville Baptist Church, Denton, NC and Faulkville Baptist Church in Faulkville, GA. She was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters, and leaves behind one sister, Dallas Snider, 98 of Denton. She was married to Paul Leon Yates on September 11, 1953 for 63 years until his death on December 19, 2016.
She leaves three sons, Gary (Debra Miles), Ston, and Todd (Leigh True Love) Yates along with grandchildren Christal, Daniel (Brooke), Gary Yates Jr., and four great grandchildren, Dallas, Ava, Asher, and Layla Yates, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, and a special nieces, Dianne Carrick and Cherry Surratt and bonus granddaughter Michelle Yates, that loved her beyond measure, visited her often, and always knew the way to her heart with sweets.
She loved being a Mama and Mamaw. She dearly loved all her family and friends and she loved Donald Trump! A special "Thank you" to her caretaker, Melissa Shewsberry, who took the best care of her, her Hospice nurse, Ashley, and her Aide, Lisa, who were always so sweet and gentle with her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Summerville Baptist Cemetery Fund and Trellis Hospice of Rowan.
Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
