Newell Franklin Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Newell Franklin "Frank" Thomas, Sr. of Hibbing, Minnesota, formerly of Kannapolis, NC, died Saturday in Minnesota. Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Thomas was born June 5, 1919 in Richmond County to Franklin and Lola Thomas. He was a retired electrician. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Fisher and a son-in-law, Gerald Walker. He is survived by his partner, Dorothy Lake of Hibbing, MN; three daughters, Lola Walker of Richfield, NC, Ruth Rowe of Wingate, NC, Eulalia Fisher of Chesapeake, VA and a son, Frank Thomas, Jr. of Aiken SC; two brothers, Farrell Thomas of Millingport, NC and Efird Thomas of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Ruby Perry of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandsons, two step-grandsons and three great grandchildren. The Thomas family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
