Candor, NC-Nell Wilkes Nell McLean Wilkes, age 78 of Research Farm Rd., Candor, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Cameron. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2007, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Donald Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. A native of Moore County, Mrs. Wilkes was born June 15, 1929, the daughter of Lawrence and Monta Ritter McLean. She was a homemaker and preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Wilkes. She is survived by 3 daughters, Brenda Glover, Trudy Blake and Dale Simmerman, all of Candor; 2 sons, Bobby Wilkes of Candor and Lawrence Wilkes of Cameron; 1 sister, Margaret McLean Morgan of Candor; 10 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Bobby Wilkes, Research Farm Rd., Candor.
