Mrs. Nell Rogers Varner Holt, age 87 of Bringle Ferry Road, Denton, NC died Tuesday, September 20 at New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington.
A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 24 at Clear Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery on South Main Street Extension in Denton conducted by Rev. Sandy Young.
The family will see friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday at Clear Springs United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Holt was born January 31, 1935 in Forsyth County to Fred Anderson Rogers and Maggie Mae Denny Rogers. She was a member of Clear Springs United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She retired from the office of Councill Craftsmen Furniture Company after 27 years of service. She was also a past Board Member of the Church as well as a former member of the Church Choir. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 216 where she had served in many ways including Grand officer's position. She was a member of the National Letter Carriers Auxiliary and a former member of the Gold Wing Riders Association. She was member of the Healing Springs Fire Department. She was married to James Grant Varner who died December 19. 1998. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Angela Szares, by her parents and by three brothers, Fred Denny Rogers, Thomas Webb Rogers and William (Bill) Rogers.
She is survived by her husband Ernest Holt; a daughter Sharon V. Ayers and husband David of Denton; sons, Richard (Ricky) Varner and wife Vivian of Denton and Jimmy Varner of Salisbury; step daughters, Carolyn Pressley and Barbara Parker; a sister, Jean R Jarvis of Denton; grandchildren, Michael Loman, Valerie Varner Sharma and Clay Ayers; step grandchildren, Dawn Stevenson and Pamela Miller both of Fayetteville, Ga, Jonathan Parker and wife Kayce, Heather Holmes and husband Wesley, Phillip Pressley and wife Jordan, and Samantha Wentland and husband Brandon; great grandchildren, Isabella and Eli; step great grandchildren, Isaiah, Leah, Michaiah, Jannah, Johannah, Adah, Selah, Amelia, Henry and Harper.
