Nell Hedrick

Mrs. Nell McCarn Hedrick, age 88, of John Young Road, and formerly of E. Center Street Extension, died Monday, September 8 at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Holloways Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Craig Barnhill. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Hedrick was born in the Silver Hill Community of Davidson County on January 25, 1920 to John A. McCarn and Minnie Shirley McCarn. She was a graduate of Southmont High School and a faithful member of Holloways Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and was married to G. Roland Hedrick who died in 1987. She was the last surviving grandchild of Civil War Veteran Alexander McCarn of the Silver Hill Community. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alpha Koontz, Dorothy McCarn and Gladys Smith and by a special Niece Doris K. Daniel. She is survived by a daughter Emily Hedrick of Charlotte; her great nieces and caretakers, Amy Thornton and husband, Perry and Julie Rhodes and husband, Scott, and their children: Samantha, Sommer and Hannah Thornton, and Abbie and Lucas Rhodes, all of Lexington; her niece, June Forrest of Lexington; and her cousin, Jack Briggs and wife, Joan, of Denton and their children, Daniel Briggs and wife, Laurie, of Lexington, and Jodie Briggs of New York, NY. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am prior the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Holloways Baptist Church, 131 Briggs Rd., Lexington, NC 27292 Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net.
