Myrtice Byerly

Mrs. Myrtice Surratt Byerly, age 85 of John Carroll Road, Denton, NC died Tuesday, November 12 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16 at Lineberry United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kelly Creekmur. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mrs. Byerly was born July 29, 1928 in Guilford County to Daniel Elvin Surratt and Maie Carroll Surratt. She was a member of Lineberry United Methodist Church and a 1950 graduate of High Point Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a RN for around 50 years having worked at Griffis Clinic in Denton, Burlington Industries Denton Plant and retired from Mountain Vista Health Park. She was married to Wannie Byerly who died Aparil 30, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, by sisters, Kathrine Kearns and Wilma Hunt and by a brother Clyde Surratt. She is survived by sons, Dale Byerly and wife Lynne and Danny Byerly and wife Eva all of Denton, by sisters, Joan Briles of Denton and Mary Mayo and husband Bob of Winston-Salem; and grandchildren, John Byerly, Caitlin Byerly, Gary Byerly and Farrah Graves; great grandchildren, Joshua Graves and Molly Graves.
