Myrle Badgett

June 26, 1923 — November 21, 2019

Mrs. Myrle Harrison Badgett, 96, formerly of Handy Rd. Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Nov. 30 at Lineberry United Methodist Church. The family invites you to join them for a catered lunch in the fellowship hall following the service.  Inurnment will be private.

Myrle was born June 26, 1923 in Davidson County to Thomas Hosea and Ida Estella Lanier Harrison. She married the love of her life, James Sidney Badgett on March 3, 1944.  Myrle was a graduate of Denton High School and graduated from High Point Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945.  During her nursing career, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Griffis Clinic in Denton from 1947 until 1970, and later at Thomasville Community General Hospital until her retirement in 1983.

She lived a life of service through her nursing career and beyond volunteering at Mountain Vista Health Park, as a member and president of the local home demonstration club, and with the NC Adopt a Highway program among others. Myrle was an active member for many years at Lineberry UMC where she taught Sunday school and served as president of the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed nature, working outdoors, and dearly loved her many cats and dogs over the years.  Myrle will be remembered for her devotion to family, friends, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Surviving to celebrate Myrle’s life are her sons, Sidney Badgett and wife Ava of Denton and Harry “Chip” Badgett and wife Paulette of Denton.  Myrle was “Nannie” to 3 grandchildren, Jane Felts, Suzanne Cox (husband Robbie), and Kim Frizzell (husband Thomas) and 4 great-grandchildren, Zach Young, Andrew Cox, Sydney Cox, and Faith Frizzell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James; brother, H. Rex Harrison; and sister, Ruby Hall.

Her family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Mountain Vista Health Park and Novant Thomasville Medical Center for their professionalism and compassionate care.  A special thank you is also extended to Dr. Clifton Baker for his care during her stay at Mountain Vista.
