Candor, NC Mozelle Thompson Hicks, age 74, of Highway 211 East, Candor, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the Candor Baptist Church with the Revs. Junior Medlin, J. B. Gibson and John Green officiating. Burial will follow in Candor Cemetery A native of Hoke County, Mrs. Hicks was born May 4, 1932, the daughter of Webb and Ariel Cole Thompson. She was a member of Candor Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the previous owner of Candor Flower Shop. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Comer. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, H. Wayland Hicks, Sr. of the home; 2 sons, Henry W. Hicks, Jr. and wife Lydia of Raeford, and Billy T. Hicks of Ajo AZ; 3 sisters, Ruth DeWitt of Lynchburg VA, Yvonne McCaskill and Joann Greene, both of Biscoe; 4 brothers, Claude Thompson of Biscoe, Roger Thompson of Troy, Jerry Thompson of Eagle Springs and Hugh Thompson of Oak Ridge; 3 Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the home of Cecil and Joann Greene, McCaskill Rd., Biscoe.
