Mr. P Monroe Snyder, age 89 of Bringle Ferry Road, Denton, NC died Tuesday, July 12 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 16 at First Baptist Church, Denton, NC conducted by Rev. Shane Smith and Rev. Thomas Frizzell. Burial will follow at Denton Town Cemetery.
Mr. Snyder was born August 1, 1932 in Davidson County to William Henry Snyder and Nannie Corbin Snyder. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon. He was the long-time owner and operator of Monroe’s Service Center in Lexington that he operated for 65 years, retiring March 31 of this year. He was the oldest service station operator in Lexington. He was a veteran of the U S Naval Reserve. He was a charter member of the Healing Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Brooke Pierce, brothers William Snyder. Jr. and Graham Snyder, sisters Eula Mae Skeen and Onibe Shields and step mother Aileen Doyle Snyder.
He is survived by his wife Ann Beck Snyder of the home; daughters, Vickie S. Pierce and husband Thomas of Lexington, Joy S. Gallimore and husband Jeff and Bonnie S Lanier and husband Gary all of Denton; grandchildren, Chad Pierce and wife Amanda, Heather Reddick and husband Chris, Brandi Pope and husband David and Matthew Gallimore; 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
