Minnie Somers Harris

Minnie Somers Harris, aged 80, of Lexington, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 22, 2025. Born on December 20, 1944, in Rockingham County, she was the beloved daughter of the late John P. Somers and Nina Isley Somers.

Minnie dedicated her career to Cone Mills, where she worked as a Cost Accounting Clerk until her health began to decline. A devout member of Mountain View Baptist Church, she was cherished by her community and family alike.

She is survived by her loving husband, James “Jay” C. Harris, Jr., her two sons, Justin R. Harris and Charlie C. Harris, and her sister, Betty Jean Williams; niece, Carol Bibee; great-nieces, Crystal Campbell and Courtney Bibee; great-nephews, Mike Foulks. She was predeceased by her parents, John P. Somers and Nina Isley Somers and nephew, Doug Bibee.

A funeral service to honor Minnie's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, at Mountain View Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tim Miller. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton, and at other times at the family home.
