Mildred Bivens

Ms. Mildred Watkins Bivens, 92, formerly of Denton Rd., Denton passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Mountain Vista Health Park. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, Jan. 11 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie Moretz presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:45 pm prior to the funeral service at the church. Mildred was born March 26, 1925 in Piedmont, SC to Albert Watkins and Elzie Leopard Watkins. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had worked in the cotton mill industry until she became disabled. Preceding her in death was, husband, Cecil E. Bivens; son, Donald Bivens; daughter, Brenda English; granddaughter, Pamela Bivens Beck; brothers, Floyd, John, and Bobby Watkins; sisters, Pearl Mae Metcalf, Pamela Watkins, Marie Huffman, and Becky Hughes. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Hulin and husband Jimmy of Denton and Loretta Johnson and husband Gerald of Trinity; sister, Betty Lou Edwards of Denton; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Linda Rucker and husband Lou of Winston Salem.
