Mickey Thompson

Sidney Malcolm “Mickey” Thompson, 65, of Candor, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mickey was born January 27, 1955 in Montgomery County, NC, son of the late Sidney Winston and Sara Lou Leach Thompson. He was a member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church, the former owner of Thompson Temps and an avid buck dancer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his faithful canine companion, Tater. Surviving are his children, Jordan Thompson (Savannah) and Lauren Thompson; sister Ann Parsons (Dale); nieces, Leslie Shoffner and Anna Parsons; great niece, Sydnie Sanders and great nephew, Reed Sanders. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, January 18,2021 at Macedonia Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Beth Olker officiating. In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions, please wear a face covering and be mindful of social distancing. Mickey will lie in state at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home from 10:00 am until Noon Monday, January 18, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Briggs Candor Funeral Home to help offset the funeral expenses.
