Mickey "Mic" Carl Walton, 79, of Denton, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at his residence. Born on October 4, 1946, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Henry Arnold Walton and the late Thelma Goodnight Walton. 

Following graduation Mic served in the United States Army then went on to retire from General Electric as a supervisor. Mic was a devoted member of Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church, having served as the chairman of the board of trustees. He found great joy in serving in the church and its people. Mic also enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and in earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda Smith Walton; his son, Brad Walton (Jammie); his daughter, Kelly Surratt (Todd); his brother Tim Walton (Sandra); his sister, Jeannie W. Jacobs; grandsons, Justin Surratt (Brittany) and Jadin Surratt; numerous nieces and nephews; and the children of Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church whom brought him great joy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating. Interment with military honors by the United States Army will follow in the church cemetery.
