Melvin Carrick

Mr. Melvin Henderson Carrick, age 86 of Shoreline Drive, Lexington, NC died Saturday, Nov. 1 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 5 at Holloways Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Dana Slack and Rev. Craig Barnhill. Interment with military honors will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times will be at the residence of Ronald & Jane Carrick 467 Briggs Road, Lexington. Mr. Carrick was born September 13, 1928 in Davidson County to James Marvin Carrick and Essie Cross Carrick. He was a lifelong member of Holloways Baptist Church, a retired employee of Thornton Knitting Company and a veteran of the U S Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother Clyde Carrick and by sisters Leora Davis, Eunice Varner and Novelle Bean. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Grubb Carrick of the home, a step-daughter, Janice Yates and husband Garland of Asheboro; brothers, Dallas Carrick and wife Jane and Ronald Carrick and wife Jane all of Lexington; and by a step-granddaughter Andrea Yates.
