Melissa York

Mrs. Melissa (Lisa) Powell York, age 32 of Valley Mine Road, Lexington, NC died Saturday, Sept 12. at Thomasville Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Hughes Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. York was born September 10, 1977 in Davidson County to Troy Powell and Wilo Dene Hill Powell. She was a graduate of Southwest Randolph High School class of 1995. She was a homemaker and with her husband self-employed with a Lawn Care Service. She also worked part-time in Home Health Care. She was currently enrolled in the RCC Radiology Program. She was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist church and was a dedicated church member involved with many programs of the church. She was a former firefighter with the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. York is survived by her husband, Scott York of the home, by sons, Matthew York, Seith York and Austin York all of the home. By her parents Troy and Wilo Dene Powell of the New Hope Community, Denton; and by a brother Troy Dean Powell and wife Natasha of High Point and a nephew Caleb Lawrence Powell. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Valley Mine Road and the parents residence in New Hope.
