Max Carter Allen, 83, of Denton, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Lineberry United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kelly Creekmur officiating. Born in Randolph County on July 6, 1929, he was the son of John Burrell and Lou Carter Allen. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the South Davidson Fire Dept and was retired from Motor Parts Company in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Smith Allen in 2009 and a brother, Charles William Allen. He is survived by his daughter, Lanette Allen Mizell and husband David of Kernersville; 2 brothers, J. B. Allen, Jr. and David Allen, both of Asheboro; 2 Grandchildren, Ryan Mizell and wife Lauren and great-granddaughter Holden of Winston Salem and Brittany Mizell Maullin and husband Justin and great-grandson Hylton of High Point. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem NC 27103. Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
