Mary Callahan

Mrs. Mary Hazel Benton Callahan, age 87 of Old N C Highway # 109, Lexington, NC died Sunday, December 21 at Carolina House in Lexington. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, December 23 at Silver Valley Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Gene Little. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Tuesday at Silver Valley Baptist Church and at other times will be at the residence of Doris & Tony Wilson on Old NC Highway # 109, Lexington, NC Mrs. Callahan was born in Union County on June 4, 1927 to Arch Ellis Benton and Pearly Mae Helms Benton. She was a retired employee of Klopman Mills Denton Plant and had lived most of her life in Davidson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Lee Callahan, by brothers, Marvin Benton, Elmer Benton, Grady Benton, Boyce Benton and Jimmy (Bob) Benton and by sisters Ruby Helms, Virginia Lisk and Eva Pierce. She is survived by a sister Omar Smith of Stanly Manor Skilled Nursing in Albemarle, by her niece and care taker Doris Pierce Wilson and husband Tony of Lexington; by great nephew Darren S. Wilson; great niece DeAnn W. Holmes and husband Randy; great great nephews Ryne W/. Holmes, Dylan G. Holmes and great great nieces Taylor W. West and Courtney W Wilson.
