Martha Kay Lanier, a cherished member of the New Hope Community, passed away peacefully at her residence in Denton, North Carolina, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on October 21, 1952, in Davidson County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Homer James Lanier and Bessie Mae Shaw Lanier.

Martha, fondly known as Kay, led a life filled with devotion and hard work, having spent many years as a seamstress in the textile industry with the Sara Lee Corporation. Her craftsmanship was a testament to her dedication and skill.

A faithful member of Calvary Gospel Church, Kay demonstrated her unwavering commitment to her faith and her community. Throughout her life, she found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her spiritual connections, which were a source of strength for her and those around her.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed the soothing challenge of puzzles, a pastime that reflected her thoughtful nature and love for problem-solving. Kay's ability to appreciate the small pleasures in life was a hallmark of her character.

Kay is survived by her son, Brad Dunn; her brother, William Lanier, (Bobbi Nichols); and her sisters, Anna Routh and her husband, Gene, Sandra Hudspeth, Frankie Snider and her husband, Harold, and Barbara Kiser and her husband, Mitchell. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Her legacy is not only cherished by her living family but also marks the poignant absence of her deceased loved ones, including her daughter, Angela Dunn; her brother, Jimmy Lanier; and her sister, Carolyn Lanier, with whom she is now reunited.

Martha Kay Lanier's life has left an indelible impact on her family and community, and her memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.

A celebration of Kay's life will be held at Calvary Gospel Church with Rev. Don Jarrell officiating. Date and time will be forthcoming.
