Martha Alene Hopkins-Hayes, 90 of Riverwood Dr., Lexington, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington after a year of declining health. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Ward and Rev. Johnny Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Born on February 22, 1924, the daughter of Riley A. and Minnie Jane Taylor Hopkins, Mrs. Hayes was born in Eldorado and raised in the New Hope area. She was a retired machine operator from PPG Fiberglass Division. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Parks Hayes and a daughter, Aweilda Kay Hogan Little-Williams. She is survived by a daughter, Melody Meachum of Lexington; a special daughter, Judy Morris of Richfield; brother James Riley Hopkins of Denton; sister, Jenna Mae Kirk of Thomasville; 5 grandchildren, Lori Ann Owen of Seagrove, Larry Little of Farmer, Amy Little-Faria of Thomasville and Stephanie Scoggins and Spencer Meachum, both of Lexington; 7 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
