Marjorie Speight Blue

Aberdeen, NC Marjorie Belle Speight Blue, 90, formerly of Linden Rd., Aberdeen, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Norman Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Suzanne Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A native of Moore County, Mrs. Blue was born April 10, 1916, the daughter of Andrew S. Speight and Della Moore Speight. She was an active member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday School Class and her circle. Late in life, she transferred her membership to Norman Presbyterian Church. The Norman members would join her at Kingswood for Bible Studies. Mrs. Blue was a homemaker and joined her husband in his farming. She enjoyed working with her flowers and every summer she and Kenneth would fill 2 freezers with food. She was a compassionate person, always cooking for someone in the community or the church who needed help. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Blue in 1988, an infant son, a brother, Carl Speight and a sister, Margaret Speight Staley. Mrs. Blue is survived by her daughter, Joyce Blue Shepard and husband Dorris of Eagle Springs; her son, L. Nelson Blue and wife Georgie of Aberdeen; her sister, Katie Speight Caddell of Aberdeen; her sister-in-law, Ruth Tucker Speight of High Point; 5 Grandchildren, Carl N. Blue, Craig W. Blue and wife Frances Ewing, Carol Blue Whitesell and husband Rick, Ken Shepard, Donna Shepard Love and husband William “Bo”; 6 Great-grandchildren, Anna and Alex Blue, Ashlyn and Andrew Whitesell, Rachael and Will Love; 8 nieces and nephews; 16 Great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joyce and Dorris Shepard, Eagle Springs. The family requests that memorials be made to a church of the donor’s choice.
