Marion Odell Grubb

Marion Odell Grubb, 81, of Flat Swamp Lake Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, Sep. 5, at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.

Marion was born on October 3, 1942, in Davidson County, the son of Odell Grubb and Gladys Barker Grubb. He was a graduate of Denton High School, the class of 1961 where he would years later serve on the advisory board. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church where he had been very active, serving as a trustee and treasurer of the Baptist Men Group. For 58 years Marion had worked in construction. He was the owner of Marion Grubb Construction Company. He was the last surviving charter member of Healing Springs Fire Department.

In his free time Marion enjoyed watching racing, baseball, and wrestling. He also enjoyed coaching little league sports for many years and riding his jet ski fast, but he especially loved to be mowing his grass.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 62 years, Sonja Newsom Grubb of the home; sons, Steven Grubb and wife Lisa and Stewart Grubb and wife Gina; brothers, Donald Grubb and wife Judi and Lamont Grubb and wife Jan; sister, Carol Hedrick; 4 grandchildren, Alex Grubb and wife Jordan, Dylan Gallimore and wife Kayla; Addie Grubb, and Gentry Parnell and husband Jordan; 2 great-grandchildren, Alena Rose Grubb and Piper Lee Gallimore
