Marion Paul Greene

November 26, 1942 — August 3, 2023

Marion Paul Greene passed away in the early hours of August 3, 2023, at home on the farm she truly loved.  Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Community Baptist Church, with Revs. Buddy Maness and Clifford Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Marion was born November 26, 1942, in Montgomery County North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Cletus and Mary Frances Harell Paul.  She was married to her sweetheart, the late Ellis Greene and together they raised two boys.  Marion was, however, first a Christian who loved Jesus and lead by example.  In addition to working side by side with her husband on the farm, she also worked in the textile industry. She also taught Sunday school for many years at Long Hill Baptist and Community Baptist churches.  Later in life, she was still teaching about the Lord as she loved to sing “Jesus Loves Me” with her great grand Harper.

Nicknamed “Granny” as a child, by her Daddy, she was Granny to many.  But she was never so happy than the day she finally became a Granny for real.  She said she “finally had my girl” and when she received her great grand Harper, her heart was overflowing.  Granny also loved to see things grow as evidence by the huge garden she and Ellis always planted.  She so enjoyed her flowers and always loved to have pansies everywhere when they were in bloom.  Those that knew her, shared lots of laughs and learned many lessons about life, canning, cooking, and planting.  Annual chicken stews and corn shuckins were old timey traditions she and Ellis enjoyed passing down to the next generations.  You definitely never left her house hungry or without something from her garden.  Her beautiful soul will always be remembered for the joy and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.  She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Marion was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her sisters, Mable Paul (Ray) Carroll; Lilian Paul (John) Lowe; Kay Paul (Jerry) Carroll; one brother Edward (Jewell) Paul.

She is survived by her sons, Phillip Greene of Candor; Billy Joe Greene (Chase) of Wagram; Granddaughter Caiti (Cole) Greene Skipper and Great Granddaughter, Harper Monroe Skipper of the home and one sister Ellen Paul (Larry) Chalmer of McLean, Va.

Family will gather and receive friends at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Saturday and at the family home in Candor.

Memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church, c/o Lori Lefler, 511 Currie Rd., Candor NC  27229 or to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 251 Campground Rd., West End NC  27376.
