Marinda Yates

Mrs. Marinda Harris Yates, age 96 formerly of Bescher Chapel Road, Denton, NC died Monday, March 4 at Mountain Vista Health Park. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Pleasant Union Community Church conducted by Rev. Larry McIntyre and Rev. Danny Miller. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Pm Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of Roy Yates on Bescher Chapel Road, Denton, NC Mrs. Yates was born March 23, 1916 in Randolph County to Arthur Harris and Ina Yates Harris. She was a graduate of Farmer High School and was the oldest original member of Pleasant Union Community Church. She was a retired employee of Stedman Manufacturing Company She was married to George A. Yates who died November 7, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Harris and a sister, Eulah Davis. She is survived by sons, James A. Yates and wife Ruth of Charlotte, Roy L. Yates and wife Sandra of Denton; a daughter Nell Y Scott and husband David of Hillsville, Va; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
