Marie Buie Loftin

Mrs. Marie Buie Loftin, age 89, of Denton died Tuesday morning, August 2 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service for Mrs. Loftin will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 4 at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the home on Bombay Road. Mrs. Loftin was born February 27, 1922 in Davidson County to Sam and Pearlie Hill Buie. She had worked for 20 years at Burlington Industries. She was a lifetime member of Summerville Baptist Church and volunteered at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Hardings Loftin on March 26, 1988, her son, Steve Loftin on August 17, 2000, four brothers, Jake Buie, Ralph Buie, Leo Buie and Luther Buie and two sisters, Sallie Scarlett and Elsie Tysinger. She is survived by one son, Tim Loftin of Denton, two brothers, Ray Buie of Denton and Zeb Buie of Weaverville, one sister, Rebecca Staley of Denton, one grandson, Jody Loftin of Denton and one great-grandson, Ty Loftin.
