Mrs. Marie Scarlett Harrison, age 82, of Lexington died Sunday, May 4 from injuries received in an automobile accident. She is now residing at her new residence in Heaven. Funeral service for Mrs. Harrison will be 4:00 pm Friday, May 9, 2014 at Silver Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Little officiating. Burial will follow in Silver Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mrs. Harrison was born June 23, 1931 in Davidson County to Allen and Grace Grubb Scarlett. She was the last surviving charter member of Silver Valley Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, custodian, assistant secretary/treasurer, was a member of the Ladies Circle and was involved in many other activities of the church. She was retired as secretary of Harrison Used Cars. Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Gray Harrison on April 7, 2008 son, Jerry Gray Harrison on April 2, 1994 and two brothers Clyde Scarlett and Clinard Scarlett. She was a grandmother to everyone and loved life. She loved her friends at Bojangles. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Harrison Gallimore of Lexington and husband Keith, grandchildren, Jerry Dean “Deano” Harrison, who she and Marvin were guardian of and his wife Tonia, Melissa Kravitz, Michelle Harrison and Holly Barker and husband Michael, nine great-grandchildren, Callie Harrison, Daniel Harrison, Owen Harrison, Asa Garard, River Barker, Lillie Kravitz, Wyatt Kravitz, Simon Kravitz and Calvin Kravitz, two half-sisters, Imogene Slayton of Danville, Virginia and Brenda Keatts of Semora, NC.
