Margie Clarice Wright

Margie  Clarice Wright, 99, of Denton, North Carolina, passed away May 16, 2026 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Born on April 30, 1927, in Davidson County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Franklin Wright and Ida Lee Lambeth Wright.

A  graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 21 at Cid Community Church with Rev. Josh Kepley officiating.

No visitation will occur.

Do you remember being stuck in a line of vehicles on 109 behind an elderly woman in a grey 90's era Oldsmobile?

Recall the same lady and vehicle at the gas station, enjoying her humor so much you couldn't help but fill her tank up yourself?

Perhaps you may've helped her into the Food Lion, or many years prior, she may've even bagged your groceries when working at Winn Dixie (and on a rainy day, she may've even worn her signature paper bag hat she'd make to keep her head dry)?

Margie was the youngest of ten children who grew up on a farm in Cid, six miles north of Denton.

She never married but devoted her life to hard work and focused care for her extended family and friends.

From newborn infants to the elderly, and any age in between, she babysat, cut hair, and aided the ill.

All while tending fields, working the family dairy, dressing chickens and selling them in town, and working at the various jobs she held over the years.

Every sore joint she had in her later years was well earned.

She was a frequent visitor of family and friends at Mt Vista Senior Care in Denton, until becoming a resident herself.

To all who cared for her patiently, shared a laugh with her (she never met a stranger), filled her tank, loaded her groceries, gave her a birthday cake, worked on her car, called as a wellness check from the sheriff's department, or bestowed any sort of kindness upon her, thank you so very much.

She was salt of the earth. A unique, often feisty, spirit.

And thankfully, the Lord graciously employed Margie and her one-of-a-kind character to bless many over nearly a century.
