Mrs. Margie Snider Weavil, age 82 of Garner Road, Denton, NC died Friday, February 17 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 20 at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Jimmy Norred and Dr. Rev. Joe Coltrane. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Monday at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ. Mrs. Weavil was born May 3, 19034 in Davidson County to Hosea Lee Snider and Sirona Kindley Snider. She was a member of New Jerusalem United Church of Christ where she had served as President of the Consistory, Treasurer, President of the Church Women, Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. She had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She had been named Silver Valley Civitan Community Citizen of the Year. She had been active in the Church Women of the Southern Conference of United Church of Christ serving as President 2009-2013, was named Woman of the Year in 2007 and Honored at the General Synod#26. She had also served in numerous other offices in the Church Women of the Western North Carolina Association. She was a strong advocate of Nazareth Children’s Home and the scholarship given to Nazareth students each year from the Church Women of the Western North Carolina Association. She was a retired employee of Thornton Knitting Company. She was married to Ned H Weavil who died April 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by a brother L. H. Snider. She is survived by a son, Ned H. Weavil of Concord and a granddaughter Madison Weavil. Memorials may be made to New Jerusalem United Church of Christ Building Fund, 4104 Jerusalem Road, Lexington, NC 27292 Briggs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
