Mrs. Margie Viola Myers Loflin, age 90 of Butler, Alabama and formerly of Denton, NC died Thursday, February 6 in Butler where she had lived for several years. A funeral service was held Sunday in Butler and a second service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 11 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Denton conducted by Rev. Kelly Creekmur and Mr. Wayne Miller. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family will see friends from 1:00 until 2:00 Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mrs. Loflin was born February 24, 1923. She was the daughter of Charlie Van and Willer Cook Myers of Denton, NC. She was married to Paul Alexander Loflin for almost 47 years, before his death in 1999. She was a registered nurse, specializing in pediatrics. Mrs. Loflin received her training at High Point Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. In later years, she worked in the cabinet shop with Paul. She liked to read her Bible, knit, crochet and research genealogies. Mrs. Loflin will be long remembered for saying “Let me finish this row” when Paul was ready for her to do something besides knit. She is survived by a sister Elsie Rogers (Bill) of Denton, N.C.; a daughter Christine Nickell (John) of Butler, AL; and three grandchildren: John Charles Nickell (Angie) of Parkville, MO; James Robert Nickell of Troy, AL; and Kathryn Maie Nickell of Butler, AL.
