Margaret "Peggy" Slack

Ms. Margaret “Peggy” Oakley Slack, 82, formerly of Forest Park Dr., Denton passed away on Thursday, April 05, 2018 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April, 14 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Sheppard, Rev. Sandy Young, and Rev. Tammy Talbert presiding. Private inurnment will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Ms. Slack was born April 2, 1936 in Caldwell County to John Silas Oakley and Ola Stevenson Oakley. She was a Registered Nurse and retired from Randolph Hospital. Following her retirement she remained very active by volunteering    with South Davidson Family Resource Center and the Blood Mobile. Until her decline in health “Peggy” had been a very active member of First United Methodist Church serving on various boards, committees, and a member of the choir. Also she was a member of the Denton Ladies Civitans. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” E. Slack and brother John Daniel “Danny” Oakley.

She is survived by daughter, Michelle Slack Tucker and husband Dean of Lexington; grandsons, Seth and Heath Tucker; sister, Barbara Kiker and husband Harold of Peachland; nephews, Scott Kiker, John Slack and wife Janet, Scott Slack, Danny Slack, and Ed Loflin; and special family friends, Donnie and Diane Hill.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church PO Box 1792, Denton, NC 27239 or to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
