Margaret Lewis Liles

Margaret McAuley Lewis Liles, 87, formerly of Candor, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst. Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 27 at Candor Cemetery with Rev. Steve Jarman officiating. Born in Montgomery County on May 18, 1928, she was the daughter of William Arthur and Irene Hunter Lewis, Sr. Along with her husband, Robert, they founded the Candor Hosiery Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Liles and a son, William Paul Liles. She is survived by two sons, Robert Lee Liles of Biscoe and James Lewis Liles of Troy; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Candor Cemetery. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
