Mr. Michael Lynn (Heavy) Hilton, age 55 of Johnson Road, Denton, NC died Friday, February 27 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 2 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Clodfelter and Rev. Tom McLean. Burial with Masonic Graveside Rites will be at Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hilton was born January 22, 1954 in Guilford County to John R. Hilton and Lois Barringer Hilton. He retired as Director of Public Works for the Town of Denton. He had also worked as construction superintendent in the commercial building industry. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and had served as chairman of the Church Board of Trustee’s . He was a member of Denton Lodge # 404 AF & AM and the Denton Chapter Order of Eastern Star # 216 and was a member of the York Rite. He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Hilton and a brother Larry Hilton. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Varner Hilton of the home; sons Jason Michael Hilton and girlfriend Cynthia; and Jonathan Branson Hilton all of Denton; mother Lois B. Hilton of Denton; brother Lance Hilton of Denton and sister Carol Brown and husband Tony of High Point. The family will see friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence on Johnson Road and also at the residence of the mother on Howell Drive, Denton.
