Luther Buie

Mr. Luther Vance Buie, 87, of Denton Rd., died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Summerville Baptist Church where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Tom McLean, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Buie was born October 5, 1919 in Davidson County to Samuel J. Buie and Pearlie Hill Buie. He was a former Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher at his church. He was a Charter Member of the Healing Springs Fire Department where he served as Cook. He retired from Thornton Knitting as Plant Supervisor after many years. Survivors include his wife Alma Carrick Buie of the home, Son Tony Buie and wife Peggy of Denton, Grandchildren; Gina Bourne and husband Danny, Todd Buie and wife Barbara, Chad Buie and wife Janice, Great Grandchildren; Ethan and Austin Bourne, Miles and Colton Buie, Brothers; Jake Buie of Mooresville, Ray Buie of Denton, and Zeb Buie of Fletcher, Sisters; Marie Loftin, Elsie Tysinger, and Rebecca Staley all of Denton. The family will see friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Denton Rd.
