Lula Blake

Mrs. Lula Thompson Blake, Age 84 of Candor died Wednesday, February 20 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23 at Candor Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Junior Medlin and Rev. William Turnmire. Burial will follow in Candor Town Cemetery. Mrs. Blake was born November 23, 1923 in Montgomery County to Henry H. Thompson and Ida Roberts Thompson. She was a member of Candor Baptist Church and was the retired owner/operator of Candor Soda Shop for over 25 years. She was married to Lonnie C. Blake who died August 17, 1989. Mrs. Blake is survived by Sons, Lonnie J. Blake of Midland, and Roy Lee Blake of Asheboro; Daughters, Carole Stogner of Ocean Isle Beach and Linda Schoenberger of Candor: Brothers, John Thompson and William (Buck) Thompson both of Candor: Sister, Ella Hogan of Morristown, Tenn. 8 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence of John & Ruth Thompson on Privette Road., Candor,NC Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
