Candor, NC-Lucille Bruton Lucille Cooke Bruton, 84 of Bruton Dr., Candor, died Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member with Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Bruton Family Cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Bruton was born October 9, 1924, the daughter of James and Esther Haywood Cooke. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her son, Robert Edwin Bruton in 2002. Mrs. Bruton is survived by her husband, Robert L. Bruton of the home; a daughter, Dottie Bruton Robinson and husband Danny of Troy; a brother, Harvey Cooke of Overland Park KS; 3 sisters, Margaret Sellers of Emporia KS, Mittie White and Mary Ann Binckley, both of Kernersville NC; 6 Grandchildren, Julie Bruton Deaton and husband Darrell of Mt. Gilead, Karen Pope Binns and husband Randy of Troy, Robert Lee Bruton and wife Bobbie Jo of Candor, Stephanie Bruton Mason and husband Kevin of Candor, Steve Pope of Ellerbe and Rory Bruton and wife Kim of Candor; 9 Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the residence.
