Loy Harris Branson

Loy Harris Branson, 88, of E. Warehouse St., Candor, died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.  Graveside inurnment service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Candor Cemetery, with Pastor Gene Thomas officiating.    Loy was born October 12, 1929, in Chatham County, the son of John Henry and Ruth Strother Branson.  He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a forward observer in Germany.  He was a Deacon at Center Baptist Church, a member of the Candor Lions Club, retired from the Candor Fire Dept., and a retired US Postal Clerk.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Branson in 2016.   He is survived by a brother, Bobby Branson of Apex; sister, Lee Cox of Taos NM; several nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:30 PM Thursday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ray Branson, 2867 Samarcand Rd., Eagle Springs NC.  Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited back to Center Baptist Church for a time of remembrance and fellowship.   Memorials may be made to Center Baptist Church, PO Box 395, Candor NC  27229 or to the Candor Lions Club, PO Box 518, Candor NC  27229   Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
