Louise Allen Giles, 94, of Candor, died Saturday, August 22, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End. In keeping with Louise’s wishes, her service will be private.
She was born in Star NC to Cleveland and Etter Monroe Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Giles and her siblings, JD Allen, Ruth Williamson, May Williams, Collen Boroughs, and Martha Morgan.
Surviving Louise are her children, Steve Burkhead (Beth) of Kissimmee FL, and Debra Beroth (Mike) of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Matt Burkhead (Adrienne) of Windermere FL, Alex Burkhead (Amanda) of Atlanta GA, Anna Beroth of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Philip and Abigail Burkhead (Matt) and Augie and Nell Burkhead (Alex); sister, Inez Blake.
Louise was vivacious and fun loving, bringing warmth, laughter, and energy into every situation she entered. She lived life to the fullest and filled her days with the activities she loved most, being on the course with her “golfing gals”, playing bridge, taking off on a Holiday Tour with her friends, family beach trips and beautifying her home and yard. She had a gift for hospitality and loved entertaining in her home and giving homemade treats to friends.
Grounded in her faith, Louise was a devoted member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Louise demonstrated her faith through her generosity and kindness and also by sharing her belief to others, including the occasional telemarketer.
Above all else, Louise (Muh to her family) loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the center of her world and she poured endless love and pride into her roles as a wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves her family a legacy of love, faith and laughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Sardis United Methodist Church, 1478 NC Hwy 731 East, Candor NC 27229.
Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is assisting the Giles family with arrangements.
