Lorene Covington

Mrs. Lorene Smith Covington, age 90 of Eastside Drive, Denton, NC died Thursday, April 26 at Mountain Vista Health Park. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 29 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Tammy Talbert. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Eastside Drive. Mrs. Covington was born August 7, 1921 in Stokes County to George Washington Smith and Maggie Lee Bullins Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Thornton Knitting Company. She was married to Harold Lee Covington, Sr. who died May 9, 2007. She is survived by sons, Steve Covington and wife Carolyn, Mark Covington and wife Arlene, Danny Covington and wife Kim, Harold Covington, Jr.and Timmy Covington all of Denton; half-brother, James Smith of Stuart, Va.; half-sister, Maggie Overby of Stuart, Va.; grandchildren, Harold Covington, III, Jennifer Lee Covington, Sheena Easter, Yvonda Trotter, Chad Covington, Cynthia Bowden and Tabitha Hooper and 7 great grandchildren.
